Characteristic
It is an important surface treatment of the representative machine parts. It increases the life expectancy of the parts. The quality of the coating depends on the selection of the proper technological procedure.
Properties of the coating
» high temper (high resistance to mechanical wear)
» a low friction coefficient
» a low surface tention (suitable for pressing rubber, plastic material, glass, cylinders in polygraphic industry)
» good resistance to corrosion
Thickness of the coating
» usually up to 10 – 30 µm
» special requirements up to 300 µm
Base material
» steel, cast iron, steel cast iron, brass, some of the kinds of stainless steel
Uses
» parts for machine, textile, automotive and aviation industries
» moulds for rubber, plastic and glass industries
» renovating parts (gauges, shafts etc.) with subsequent polishing
